<P>You can significantly reduce swimming pool heating costs by using a pool cover. On the following pages, see the tables showing the costs of heating pools with and without pool covers in different U.S. cities:</P><br />

<H2>How They Work</H2><br />
<P>Swimming pools lose energy in a variety of ways, but evaporation is by far the largest source of energy loss. Evaporating water requires tremendous amounts of energy. <P>The evaporation rate from an outdoor pool varies depending on the pool&#8217;s temperature, air temperature and humidity, and the wind speed at the pool surface. The higher the pool temperature and wind speed and the lower the humidity, the greater the evaporation rate. In windy areas, you can add a windbreak—trees, shrubs, or a fence—to reduce evaporation. The windbreak needs to be high enough and close enough to the pool that it doesn&#8217;t create turbulence over the pool, which will increase evaporation. You also don&#8217;t want the windbreak to shade the pool from the sun, which helps heat it. </P><br />

<H2>Types of Pool Covers</H2><br />
<P>Technically, all you really need for a pool cover is a large sheet of plastic. Plastic meets the requirement of being a vapor barrier. But a large sheet of plastic that you get from the lumber store is probably not your best choice. It will be very difficult to handle and store, it tears easily, and sunlight will deteriorate it rapidly. <P>Some pool covers fit into tracks along the sides of the pool. This prevents anything or anybody from getting into the pool. They even support the weight of several people. If liability is a concern, these are a good option to explore. They can be run manually, semi-automatically, or automatically. Safety covers are recommended for public pools, and may be required by inspectors.</P><br />

A heat pump uses a refrigeration cycle exactly like your refrigerator or air conditioner uses. A proven safe, economical and very trouble-free system.  It doesn&#8217;t form heat by heat pump itself. It just deliver the heat from air or other source to water. It only needs the transferring of energy. So it need much less energy than electric heater or gas heater.  So it can save energy!</span><br />

<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">The heat exchange of Palm swimming pool heat pump is made from titanium, and is virtually impervious to water-chemistry damage.</span></p>
<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">We use top brand plate heat exchanger for air to water heat pump.</span></p>

<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">We have two kinds of compressors in swimming pool heat pumps and air to water heat pumps. For big units above 9kw with scroll compressors the lowest working temperature our clients in Europe have recorded is minus 23 deg C (in Finland). In our lab the lowest temperature we can lower to is minus 10 deg C . For small units like 6.3kw with rotary compressor conservatively speaking the lowest working condition is minus -15 deg C.</span> </span><br />

<h5 id="a000148">Q:Does the unit ever need draining?</h5>
<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">When the air temperature is below 7 deg C or 8 deg C, ice will build up on the evaporator because the moisture in the air will freeze after the heat is absorbed by the cold refrigerant. The unit will automatically defrost the ice by reversing the refrigerant flow. Ice will become water and be drained out of the unit through some holes in the bottom of the cabinet. So if the unit is used in such a low temperature, we need to drain the water.</span><br />

<h5 id="a000149">Q:What are the guarantees on units that you will give us?</h5>
<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">As a standard policy we will provide free spare parts with a value equivalent to 1% of the total ordered value. According to the experiences from our clients these free spare parts are beyond enough for maintenance purpose in two years.</span></p>
<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">In the same time we provide 1 year warranty for any factory fault parts replacement.  In urgent, we can send the required parts by DHL to help solving the problem first.</span></p>

<p><span style=" color: #ff0000; font-family: Arial;">The gas we are using for European market is R407C OR 410A. It is 100% non-ozone-depleting . If you prefer R407C, we can use a rotary compressor from Hitachi which is compatible with R407C gas. We ever produced this unit for some European clients.</span><br />
